Prior to the quarter-final between SK Gaming and Evil Geniuses, we caught up with Danny "fRoD" Montaner to hear him about what he expect of the match.
Winning big against Made in Brazil on train yesterday, Evil Geniuses are looking to play more train, check below as we found time to sit down with Danny "fRoD" Montaner before the match.
You played strong on train yesterday against Made in Brazil, SK Gaming also went strong on train against k23, are you looking to play SK Gaming on train?
We are ready to play them on some of the main maps; I’m not sure what we are going to remove yet, also not sure whether we are going to play inferno or dust2 against them, as they are really strong on those maps. Think we have better chances on train or tuscan and maybe nuke, but I definitely want to play them on train, which is one of our strongest maps.
What advantages do you see yourself having against SK Gaming?
Main advantage is that they still have a fairly lineup, which mean they might not had a lot of time to practice tuscan, and might lacking not have the confidence as a new team, to rally back should we lead them big. Hopefully we can jump on them early and test them to see how they really are.
Evil Geniuses will face SK Gaming at approximately 07:30CET, but the match might start before scheduled, so keep an eye on the frontpage.
Winning against SK Gaming will grant you access to the semi-final, facing either TyLoo or mousesports. Who would you rather face and what do you expect of a semi-final?
I think we rather play mousesports. They are a great team, but they play just like SK Gaming, good strategic Counter-Strike, so we know they won’t just be running around fragging, but executing good tactics. We like playing against teams with good tactics, due to they will be doing the same type of tactics, so we know what to expect.
Should you face TyLoo, you will face a Chinese team on home court. Teams on home court always seem to do well, would you be afraid of facing a Chinese team?
No, not a all. Regardless of who we face, we are going our tactics, and hopefully it work against them. It isn’t exactly helpfully when you have the crowd against you, but at the same time, that motivates us to try doing better and having the crowd turning our favor, but it is going to be hard.
